For these presentations, each group created a speech about a specific time period in relation to the City of Hialeah. These were very creative presentations and involved lots of research, whether that was through websites, libraries, or direct interviews with representatives at the various centers in Hialeah. It was a wonderful opportunity for each member to use their creativity and organizational skills to display an excellent presentation. Together, every member of each group worked together and presented some outstanding and unique productions.

To begin with, Group 1 was the first to present. The members of Group 1 were Cynthia Cheung, Carnell Davis, Alejandra Gonzales, Emily Gotay, Destiny Johnson, Aura Matthews, and David Valverde. Group 1 created a wonderful presentation involving several important points regarding the history of Hialeah. Group 1’s presentation was titled “A Tour Through Hialeah’s Past.” This group incorporated a great deal of research into their presentation. They had lots of information within their speeches, and awesome pictures on their slides. First, David spoke about the government in the past and the voting history, and how it influenced the city. Alejandra spoke about the residents of Hialeah from 1920 until now. It was surprising how quickly the citizens of Hialeah increased within the years. Emily spoke about the industries of Hialeah and how they developed throughout the early years. She also gave a detailed description of the architecture in Hialeah and the importance of ancient landmarks. Destiny went over the parks and recreation in the past of Hialeah, including the famous Racetrack. Carnell gave the audience an insight to the history of social aspects in Hialeah. Cynthia spoke about the public health in the past of Hialeah and some important treatment methods while also speaking about challenges faced. Finally, Aura spoke about the startup of education centers in Hialeah, including the Miami-Dade College. Group 1 did awesome with their images and their organization.

Next, Group 2 presented.  The members of Group 2 were Gabriella Saez, Gabriella Ruiz, Gabriel Ulloa, Isabel Espinosa, Gersis Diaz, and Gloria Oikelome. Group 2 developed a beautiful slideshow describing some of the different groups of people who immigrated to Hialeah and the influence they had on the city. The title of Group 2’s presentation was “The City of Progress Migration.” Gabriel talked about migration between 1960 and 1980. Gabriella Saez talked about some important events that led up to the rapid migration of Cubans in the 1980s. Gloria introduced some important political and economic factors that forced Cubans and Peruvians to migrate, and also covered the significance of the Mariel Boatlift. Isabel talked about the development of important cultural monuments and landmarks in relation to the migration in Hialeah. Next, Gabriella Ruiz highlighted the various challenges the immigrants faced in the city of Hialeah, including language barriers, discrimination, and political/societal instability. She also highlighted the opportunities immigrants found in Hialeah, including factory employment, small business startups, and the establishment of the Cuban community. Finally, Gersis also touched on Cuban migration, especially that of before the Mariel Boatlift and after. Overall, group 2 did a great job talking about the migration in Hialeah. However, I wish they talked more about the different types of people instead of emphasizing so much on Cubans. I also wish they spoke about the influence of the diverse migration in shaping the Culture of Hialeah. But, in the end, their presentation was outstanding.

After Group 2 came Group 3 with their unique presentation. The members of Group 3 were Jamiah Head, Joselyn Gomez, Katryn Cheung, Kevin Aviles, Kylie Escobales, and Luis Velasquez. Group 3 created a presentation about the present of Hialeah. This group used an interesting platform for their presentation. Their presentation was in the form of a video which had recordings of them speaking as it played. Group 3 had a confusing presentation. On our part, it was very glitchy so it was hard to keep up with it. It was difficult to understand some points. However, some of the points that were understood were quite interesting and fascinating. They went over some really important points in the present of Hialeah. This group just needs to work on structure and cohesiveness. Overall, it was a smart, unique, and interesting presentation.

Last but not the least, the final group to present was Group 4, which I was a member of. My team members were Aracelis Herrera, Matteo Chaves, Nayelin Martinez, Rachel Martin, and Santiago Tovar. Our presentation was about the future of Hialeah, and some of the plans and projects the city is working on. Our presentation was titled “The Future of Hialeah.” We did have an issue due to one of our team members being absent in the beginning, but it was resolved. To begin with, Matteo went over Project Pipeline and Transit-Oriented development. Next, Nayelin spoke about the future of technology in schools, demographic shifts, and how technology changes and economical changes are going to change the way people are prepared to work and become productive. Next, Aracelis spoke about some future projects regarding transportation and recreation. Rachel talked about some of the important advancements that will be made to the malls of Hialeah, including the Codina Westland Mall and the American Dream Mall. Santiago gave a detailed presentation regarding the future plans for the transportation of Hialeah, including underground metros. Finally, I talked about the City of Hialeah 2050 Master Plan and the Comprehensive Plan, which are still in the process of being finalized and slowly being enforced within the city. I also discussed some brief plans for Hialeah’s parks and recreation. Our group did a fantastic job in displaying our information with points, images, and videos on your slides as references and guiding points for us and for the audience. We were pretty organized and appealing.

Finally, David and Nathalia used their intellect to create openings and conclusions for each of the four presentations about Hialeah. They did a wonderful job introducing each presentation based on our main topics and significant points. They also did a great job concluding our presentations, enhancing their qualities and reminding us what we all spoke about.
