SPC 2608 Hialeah Presentations Blog #2- Matteo Rocha-Chaves

Following our first group assignment, we were instructed to regroup with the same members from the previous group project and discuss Hialeah as a whole. Each group was given a focus - Hialeah's migration process, as well as its past, present, and future. Discussed was the history, current, and the near future of Hialeah. Upon receiving their main focus topic, each group split up the workload into potential research topics in order to come up with the content needed for the project. A great amount of research was both required and conducted through the use of websites, libraries, in addition to direct interviews with representatives all throughout Hialeah.     Starting off the array of presentations was Group 1's project, titled " A Tour Through Hialeah's Past". Group 1 consisted of David Valverde, Alejandra Gonzalez, Emily Gotay, Destiny Johnson, Cynthia Cheung, Carnell Davis, and Aura Matthews. Their project, as you may already tell, focuses entirely on Hial...

For these presentations, each group created a speech about a specific time period in relation to the City of Hialeah. These were very creative presentations and involved lots of research, whether that was through websites, libraries, or direct interviews with representatives at the various centers in Hialeah. It was a wonderful opportunity for each member to use their creativity and organizational skills to display an excellent presentation. Together, every member of each group worked together and presented some outstanding and unique productions. To begin with, Group 1 was the first to present. The members of Group 1 were Cynthia Cheung, Carnell Davis, Alejandra Gonzales, Emily Gotay, Destiny Johnson, Aura Matthews, and David Valverde. Group 1 created a wonderful presentation involving several important points regarding the history of Hialeah. Group 1’s presentation was titled “A Tour Through Hialeah’s Past.” This group incorporated a great deal of research into their presenta...

SPC 2608 Hialeah Presentations Blog #2- Nayelin Martinez

This is my second time presenting in this class, and the discussion on Hialeah has been very captivating. We discussed its history, current situation, and what lies ahead. Every group performed exceptionally well, and it was clear that the majority implemented the teacher's feedback from the previous presentation by using concise slides and speaking with more confidence. The two groups I will discuss are Group 1 and Group 4. The presentation given by Group 1 was a comprehensive exploration of Hialeah's history. David Malverde took charge of the conversation about the political history of the city, specifically highlighting the various mayors throughout the years. He brought attention to John Okay, the initial mayor who held office from 1925 to 1930. John Okay's time in office was important as he established the basic principles that would shape Hialeah's development. Other mayors of note included Raúl Martínez, recognized for his key role in the city's growth, Juli...

To begin group number one’s presentation has been phenomenal, this group did everything they were supposed to do. This particular group excelled in their media portion of the presentation as well as doing their best in researching information of the city of Hialeah. The perfect amount of information has been provided about key details of Hialeah including malls, traffic, transportation, and everything coming to the future for the old city of hialeah. This group is leaning towards the future development for Hialeah because it is a really historic city along with chaos, developers and the higher-ups have taken advantage of these opportunities to improve their city and this group did an excellent job bringing these futuristic developments to the light allow their audience to become more intrigued and fascinated with the old city of Hialeah. With this presentation they are putting the old city back on the map and engaging more people to do thei...

The ability to master presentation is a vital skill in both academic and professional settings. Presentations are an opportunity to communicate ideas, influence opinions, and showcase one's knowledge and skills. Therefore, it is crucial to approach them with confidence and preparation. Group one presented a discussion on how to master a presentation, providing several interesting and useful tricks to achieve it. My favorites were the tips for boosting confidence when presenting anywhere, as nerves can sometimes get the best of you, especially those for connecting with the audience. I think Cynthia Cheung did a great job teaching us these different tricks. I took some of her advice, such as breathing exercises, reframing negative phrases into positive ones, not showing nerves even if you have them, asking for feedback or questions from the audience, and always remembering to treat them with respect. Maintaining eye contact and taking notes were also other useful tips....

Four groups were given different chapters from Public Speaking: The Evolving Art to use in this presentation. This book  covers  some  important  topics about public  speaking and  includes the foundations of public speaking, the process of developing and delivering your speech,  and  the  different  types of speeches for audiences. Each group had an  amazing  presentation, and this group was exceptional  in  teamwork. I enjoyed my experience in this group for  the time that I had. The first presentation was by Group 1 presented by: Cynthia Cheung, Carnell Davis, Alejandra Gonzales, Emily Gotay, Destiny Johnson, Aura Matthews, and David Valverde. Group 1’s presentation gave us a foundation  for  effectiveness of active listening and connection to the audience. The slideshow was concise and had visuals to keep the audience engaged. The way each member spoke when  they presented  was clea...

For starters group number one did an amazing job using media skills to open up and bring more attention towards their presentation and it is very well formatted and properly organized. This group did an exceptional job when it comes to keeping the audience engaged and interested in their presentation. They made it very easy to understand the sequence of each topic and very simple to follow in case the audience happens to get lost while listening to the presentation. Including images to bring the presentation to life made a big difference but in this particular presentation it lacks just a little bit of professionalism and lack of using their language effectively. From what I dissected in this presentation I would say it needs more research and more information to make strong points and this group needs work on their informative speaking to make the project more rich in detail and easier to persuade the audience. The presentation needs more life in the delivery...
