Rachel Martin- SPC 2608 Presentation Blog#2 - Hialeah
To begin group number one’s presentation has been phenomenal, this
group did everything they were supposed to do. This particular group excelled in their
media portion of the presentation as well as doing their best in researching information
of the city of Hialeah. The perfect amount of information has been provided about key
details of Hialeah including malls, traffic, transportation, and everything coming to the
future for the old city of hialeah. This group is leaning towards the future development
for Hialeah because it is a really historic city along with chaos, developers and the
higher-ups have taken advantage of these opportunities to improve their city and this
group did an excellent job bringing these futuristic developments to the light allow their
audience to become more intrigued and fascinated with the old city of Hialeah. With this
presentation they are putting the old city back on the map and engaging more people to
do their research on Hialeah, they even talk about future housing developments and
future projects and renovations such as high-ways and bridges as there are currently
22,000 inhabitants in the city, along with their facts being one hundred percent facts
Hialeah is becoming more of a city that contains warehouses and more of a commercial
area rather than being a residential area. The only thing that I would change in this
presentation is for them to add a little more information while they did an amazing job.
The audience would love to hear more of this.
To continue with group two’s presentation has a lot of images and not
enough information. This group has a lot of before and afters but not supporting details
to go with their topic along with having little to no organization that they did not outline
for better planning. Their informative speaking needed some work as well as adapting to
their audience and being able to allow them to become more engaged with their
presentation and not doze off having more people intrigued by their presentation. This
particular group also did not have a strong beginning or ending to be able to hook their
audience along with leaving their audience wanting to ask questions afterwards. If this
group were to have used their media along with developing their purpose and topic it
would have made for a solid presentation, maybe even flawless. On that note their
media also needs a little bit of work because their pictures used in the presentation
symbolizes certain things about Hialeah but is also the reason why you can tell there is
no organization or planning going on in this presentation. To make this presentation
more complete they would need to do more research and work on their delivery for their
audience and also plan and organize their next presentation a little better. Maybe using
an outline would be more sufficient for them to get the most out of their research in
order to keep audiences engaged and intrigued.
In group three presentations they were different and took their media
aspect and research to a different level creating a visual presentation in a video format.
In their video they included details using their own voice and slideshows for audio and
visual presentation, they did a great job making a video and including the right context
they needed to make this presentation tolerable for the audience. Their information on
Hialeah is a lot of information on what kind of people live there along with their ethnicity,
race, religion and the kind of schools there are in the city. Since Hialeah is mostly
cubans they mixed in most cuban dishes and religions along with other central american
plates to complete the rest of the population's percentage of culture. This particular
group lacked in giving the audience something to engage in to also keep them invested
in the presentation, they have a good base for information but could use work on their
delivery aspect of this presentation. Their persuasiveness in their presentation is also
lacking, but they used plenty of tools such as distance speaking and media
appearances. This presentation just needs to work on their information along with their
organization and supporting their ideas also while adapting to their audience they have
the platform but they need to use it to the fullest of their ability in order to become
successful in front of an audience to be able to convince them as to why the city of
Hialeah should be a city to talk about.
To continue in group number four they started off with their media being
very descriptive and demonstrating how historically famous the city of Hialeah is,
which is very important for the audience to visualize such beauty. One thing that I
would change for group four introduction would be for them to include a little bit
of background information on the city of hialeah allowing the audience to read
and take notes on what Hialeah really is. The targeted audience might want to
visit Miami but have never heard of the city of Hialeah forcing them to avoid the
city or just not get to know the facts behind the history of it. Continuing through
the presentation they have done a great job with the media showing the
industries, the type of buildings they have the unique culture they have over there
as it is mainly hispanics and this particular group did and outstanding job dating
the pictures for the audience so they can be able to see what has changed and
what has not changed throughout time. This group lacked in a lot of research
information that was missing from their presentation, they had the correct idea
and information in picture format but not a lot of information being able to be
seen like key details and certain information that pictures won’t justify for it
allowing the presentation to lose it’s value and become a little dull for the
audience. Besides that group number one outdid themselves and came up with a
nice presentation.
Excellent study of the presentations. Very good job!
