SPC 2608 Presentations #1
Four groups were given different chapters from Public Speaking: The Evolving Art to use in this presentation. This book
The first presentation was by Group 1 presented by: Cynthia Cheung, Carnell Davis, Alejandra Gonzales, Emily Gotay, Destiny Johnson, Aura Matthews, and David Valverde. Group 1’s presentation gave us a foundation
Next was Group 2's presentation which was presented by: Gabriella Saez, Gabriella Ruiz, Gabriel Ulloa, Isabel Espinosa, Gersis Diaz, and Gloria Oikelome. The goal for this presentation, titled Public Speaking: Getting Ready for Success, was to find ways on how to conduct your speech to your audience. This group provided the audience with various tips on how to conduct their speeches onto other audiences, and represented it clearly.
The next presentation was by Group 3, presented by: Jamie Head, Joselyn Gomez, Katryn Cheung, Kevin Aviles, Kylie Escobales, and Luis Velasquez. Group 3 presented us with an overview of chapters 9-12, showing the audience how to deliver an effective speech. Group 3's slide was colorful and there were lots of visuals to interact with their speech. Each group member discussed several important aspects of performance. They introduced their presentation with the importance of greeting and how first impressions are important. They then went on to explain how visual components like GIFS and videos can help you deliver your speech effectively. Then there was a discussion about different ways of speaking and about the advantages and disadvantages of each type of speech. Finally, they spoke on the importance and connection of the audience and the understanding of a relationship between the speaker and the audience. Overall, their speech was very though out and well put together, and their slides provided visuals that were in line with what they delivering.
The last group to present was our group, Group 4, which consisted of Matteo Chaves, Nayelin Martinez, Rachel Martin, Santiago Tovar, and Sanya Ali. I think my team members did a terrific job at conduction our presentation given the time we had to work on it. Our slides were well organized, and we had visuals and text to convey our message to the audience. My group members went over the different types of presentations and the components of each type. In this presentation, we spoke about the different kinds of presentation and how and a speaker can cater towards the audience. We touched on chapter 13-17, speaking on informative speaking, persuasive speaking, understanding argument, media appearances, and group presentations, I think this team amazing as everyone provided thought out slides that covered our topics seamlessly. Overall, everyone presented their slides clearly, and although there were some points were the topics got dragged, we were able to make it all correlate and provide the audience with a great presentation. The team members were fantastic at putting all the slides together, and I think this was a great introduction to our first presentation.
